The Livewire Connections
Access Controller FB-10 is the next step in taking true control of your
vessels communications. Whether you run a merchant ship or a luxury yacht,
the Access Controller can save you both time and money.
The new Access Controller from Livewire Connections allows you to plug in
many different devices including VSATs, Fleet and FleetBroadband, Iridium,
Thruya, Hughes, Thrane & Thrane as well as more standard comms devices
such as GSM, 3G and Wi-Fi. All of these methods of communications can have
independent firewall and port forwarding rules applied to them in order to
control exactly who on board your vessel can use them. Change connection?
No problem, the applicable rules will be applied dynamically for your
convenience.

In fact you can connect up
to 10 different devices. The selection of how your network data is routed
ashore is simply made by clicking the most suitable system available in
the User GUI, so if you’re VSAT is blocked by a crane when you’re in port
and 3G or GPRS is available, simply switch to this and stay connected at
what is usually a critical time.

The
intuitive graphical user interface (GUI) makes it easy for authorized
users to make changes to the connection that you are on. However, there is
a whole lot more to the FB-10 than purely being able to switch service!
Truly Dynamic Firewalling
Create a user group and assign rules controlling a user’s connectivity on
specific services. Change connection and have the applicable rules applied
without any user intervention.
Port Forwarding
Allows external communication with internal devices or networks for
off-vessel management such as engine diagnostics or remote IT server / PC
support for example.
Remote Support
The Access Controller is designed with remote support in mind, not just
for the Access Controller itself but for your entire network. The “Remote
WAN to WAN” option allows a technician to investigate problems you may
have onboard with say the VSAT via another terminal attached to the Access
Controller. For example if your VSAT modem develops a fault a technician
can, with your permission, troubleshoot this using the Fleet Broadband
minimising down time and support costs as you may be able to fix the
problem without needing an engineer onboard.
The Access Controller also enables the remote use of Sea
Tel DacRemP software. Simply connect a serial cable between the FB-10 and
DAC and enable “DAC Access”.
VPN Support
The Access Controller supports the pass though of multiple VPN types
including PPTP, L2TP and IPSec.
Call Logs / Billing
The Access Controller User GUI allows you to stay in control, at any time
you can see what data service you are using, how much data you have sent
and received and long you have been online. The downloadable Call Log
facility allows you to check your airtime bills as you can download the
log and even apply your own call costs to different service types to bill
back volume or time based charges if required.
Installation
The installation is designed to be straightforward and intuitive with
in-built help features to assist the installer and pre-installed settings
for both Satcom and standard communications devices. The Access Controller
can even be configured remotely by a shore side technician who can use the
“Remote GUI” function to amend settings or make changes to firewall groups
if authorised to do so.
And More...
Including the ability to configure different users with different access
levels ensuring you maintain control at all times. The Access Controller
has upgradable firmware which makes it simple to update the Access
Controller to support new communication devices.
